We have trouble seeing ourselves as we really are. Our body image is skewed based on what we think we should be, what we think we would like to be, and what we are told we should be.
We see things as we are, rather than accept them as they are.
Usually we can’t achieve what we (think we) want, and we can’t do it fast enough either. If any of you set New years resolutions to lose weight and have broken them by now, giving up the game, you know what I am talking about. I hope you’re not taking it out on yourselves, the real answer is to love yourself more.
This video is worth watching. Here are woman who “achieve” the look of their dreams, only to discover it’s not actually what they thought it would be.
I’d love to know your thoughts, do leave some in the comments
I’m writing this because I’m a firm believer that if you love someone you should show them every day, not just one day a year. And if you don’t have someone to love in that romantic way, a “hallmark holiday” does not have to get in the way of your happiness.
It’s beautiful to honour love, maybe Valentine’s Day could be about just that, honouring love for love’s sake, rather than being about romantic love (and cash into the till). Anyone can do this exercise if they resonate with it, whether they are in a romantic relationship or not. Just like any exercise I would ask you to please read through it first so you know what to expect before you jump in! Continue reading “How To Take Your Power Back From Valentine’s Day.” »
As most of you know, I’m a Dublin girl, born and bred. I’ve lived here all my life, and I guess that I take it for granted because it’s what I know.
I swear. A lot. Being in my position of therapist swearing isn’t something we are supposed to do, but it’s part of who I am. I read once somewhere that people who swear are more honest, I find I’m more honestly myself if I do swear from time to time. And yes, it does happen in session too, and I find it puts my client’s at ease all the more quickly if they know they are safe to swear too! Continue reading “Feck! One of my clients was talking to me after Christmas about how her daughter found out that Santa was not a real person. It brought back memories for me as to when I found that out too, it felt like all the magic drained out of my world, forever.
Funny though, now that I am doing what I am doing, there has never been more magic in my world. Angels, Mermaids, Fairies, Unicorns… you name it. Divine sparks of energy with different vibrations do exist, packets of energy with consciousness for us to play with and have fun with… if we so desire. Everyone’s getting excited that this is the last day of the year. Clean slate, blank page, all that. But there’s a pressure in it isn’t there?
Hidden or not, the end of the year brings a pressure to change, to do better, a pressure to set goals and achieve, pressure to admit what we didn’t achieve last year.
We can blame it on the year that was, and say that the next year will be better. But the truth is, we did the best we could with what we had. We need to start giving ourselves credit for that instead of blaming something or blaming ourselves.
Just because I’m a healer and am able to facilitate people’s growth, doesn’t mean that don’t go through my own growth spurts too from time to time! I’ve been doing that right along with all of you this past year, and wow what a ride it’s been!
I admit that realising I had to leave Ranelagh came as a shock to me. I have been in Ranelagh for three years and I did a lot of growing up in this space, it feels like a home to me. My practice started here from zero right up to being fully booked, clients now have to book evening spots several weeks in advance! It has become so busy that I need to expand into a new space– since June I’ve not had time to breathe! I can’t take a lunch break anymore or meet a friend for a natter. Even finding the time to make a phone call can be difficult between sessions!! I need to get some more space for me and have more space to offer to other people. So I started to look for somewhere new, and the Universe brought me to Fitzwilliam Square. Continue reading “Goodbye Ranelagh, Hello Fitzwilliam Square!” »
I love to write, but most of all I love to share what I write. As my Facebook page hits 27 thousand people, my weekly energy tips email is one year old. Over 1000 subscribers, and it’s a marvellous success. Each week I send out observations, tips, exercises, all to teach people about spirituality. To help them learn what they are made of and how to better manage life, relationships, anxiety, how to stop coping and to start living.
As I approached the one year mark I felt it important not to let these emails lie hidden so I put them together in one place – Spiritual Tips for Enlightenment. As I write this post it’s not yet available to buy, I plan to launch it later this week as an eBook, and then have it available soon afterwards in paperback. I am blessed to be gifted the beautiful images that go with the book by my Facebook followers. Thank you thank you all so much. You know who you are! Everybody understands at some level that writing can be therapeutic. Most people have had a go at writing a journal. Some have liked it. Some haven’t. I am part of the group of people who haven’t.
Why? I just couldn’t stand how whiny it made me sound. I couldn’t bare the thought of re-reading what I wrote. I sounded so negative, so immature, like someone I wouldn’t like to be friends with.
One day I realized that I could do my journal exactly the way I wanted so I started a positive inspirational journal. I didn’t have to write my diary like my best friend who would pour her heart to her dear “Ginger”. In mine, I would collect quotes and record magical moments of my private and professional life as a healer. I would describe my progress and my aha-moments. And it worked wonderfully well, until… I realized that wasn’t enough. Continue reading “Writing as a Healing Journey – Guest Blog Post by Ange de Lumiere” »
